 Fabric Tutu Tutorial

(Aren't these the cutest pictures ever of the tutu?? They turned out so cute! Thanks to Photography by Stacy!)

Okay so this is how you make it!
This is a really simple tutorial that requires no sewing and uses fabric scraps that you already have!
And if you know how to make a tulle tutu you already know how to make a fabric one!

Here is what you will need...
Fabric of your choice (you can use several different patterns or the same one)
Elastic

First cut everything into the right sizes..
Newborn - 6months: waist 14", length 6/7"
6-12 months: waist 16", length 7/8"
12months - 2Toddler: waist 18", length 9"
2Toddler - 3Toddler: waist 19", length 10"
4 Toddler - 5Toddler: waist 20", length 11"
5Toddler - 6Toddler: waist 21", length 12"

Make sure to double the length of and cut everything an inch larger than the sizes above.

Now with the elastic you can sew the ends together (seems to hold tightest), sew them by hand or simply tie the elastic in a knot.

Cut your fabric according the measurements above making them about 2 inches wide. I also cut the ends in a diagonal.

I put my elastic around a paper towel roll, makes it easier to tie the tulle.
Next, fold the fabric in half and wrap the loop end under the elastic..

Reach under and through the loop grasping the strip. Pull the tail through the loop.
This then makes a slip knot, pull it tight. But be careful tying fabric strips around the elastic to not stretch out the band.

Continue doing this around the waist band.
Then you are done!
So Simple.

And turns out so cute!
